What exactly do we mean by "low vision"? In general, low vision is defined as vision with visual acuity below 2/10 (significantly reduced central or peripheral vision) and no way to correct it with glasses, contact lenses, medication or surgery (e.g. laser refractive surgery). People with low vision have significant difficulties in their daily activities, such as reading, driving, and even moving around the house.
A low vision condition may be caused by conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, temporal macular degeneration, advanced glaucoma, macular retinopathy, and optic nerve diseases.
